Regent Street (since 1954) and Oxford Street (since 1959) are always the main ‘must sees’ – but in recent decades other London streets have been festooned with thousands of lights and giant baubles.
Marylebone High Street’s illuminations are set in an atmospheric location (known locally as Marylebone Village), with joyous shop windows complimenting the amazing display lighting up the street.
Close by, the dazzling peacocks with feathers have become a popular feature soaring above Mayfair’s high-end stores in Bond Street.
Perhaps one of the more photogenic attractions are the walk-through glowing ice arches on South Molten Street, another exclusive Christmas shopping hub.
Fashionable Carnaby Street takes the theme of ‘Choose Love’ this season, with positive wording glittering in neon pink light boxes overhead.
An elegant display of twinkles festoon above the elegant Saville Row, which brilliantly brighten up those fashion houses just off Regent Street.
The ‘starry night’ theme at Seven Dials is just a short hop from the towering Christmas tree in Covent Garden, its hall decked with gigantic mistletoe.
There are giant sparkling LED banners which transform from rainbows, before your very eyes above Motcomb Street in Belgravia.
In time-honoured tradition, Trafalgar Square, a tree from a Norwegian forest provides a majestic setting in London’s most central of locations, and has done each year since 1947.
